Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a common chronic disease that affects a person's quality of life. Plaque type psoriasis is the most common version in society. In plaque type psoriasis, pink and white dandruff plaques are seen on the knees, elbows, sacral region, and scalp. New lesions may appear as a result of trauma or scratching.
Psoriasis is absolutely not contagious. The disease can be seen throughout the body (Erythrodermic type psoriasis). It may involve nails and joints. Hypertension, diabetes, and fatty liver disease are also more common in psoriasis patients.
Factors that trigger psoriasis:
-
Stress
-
Smoking
-
Excessive weight gain
-
Infections
-
Trauma
-
Some medications
Depending on the type and severity of the disease, topical treatments, systemic treatments, light treatments and biological agents can be used in the treatment.
