Skin Tag Treatement with Laser
Skin tags (acrochordon, skin tag) are benign skin growths. They can be seen anywhere on the body, usually in the neck, armpit and under the breast. These formations are harmless, but when they are in the neck or belt area, they can bleed or rupture when caught on a necklace or belt. Or, when they are large in number, they may not appear aesthetically pleasing to the patient.
In such cases, it can be removed by cryotherapy, cautery or surgery, or it can be easily destroyed with Erbium-yag laser in 1 or 2 sessions. Since the area is anesthetized with topical anesthetic cream before the procedure and a cooler is kept during the procedure, the procedure is painless.
Let's not forget that mole (nevus) and skin tags are not the same thing. Moles (nevi) should be protected from the sun and monitored periodically with dermatoscope; if there is a suspicious situation, they should be removed surgically and sent for pathological examination. Moles should never be treated with laser.
